Introducing TAG TEAM FORMAT!

In this post, I will cover how to play the official Tag Team format for System Gate.

To play, each team will need two players. For examples, we will call them Team A and Team B. Therefore, Team A will have Player A1 and Player A2 and Team B will have Player B1 and B2.

Teams will share start at 40 life. Reduce the other Teams life total to 0 to win! Teams will share life, energy, and other resources. To set up the game, randomly choose one player to go first. Then all players draw 6 cards, mulligan, and gain 2 Energy.

For this example, let us say that Player A1 is going first. Player A1 draws, and charges and draws. Player A1 may only make 1 attack this turn. When resolving any skills that affect themself, they may choose their teammate as the target of the effect. For example, Player A1 casts “Yeehaw” to draw 2 cards. They may choose Player A2 to draw the two cards instead.

When attacking or using a skill that affects the opponent, players may choose either opponent. For example, if Player A1 attacks with “Demon Prince Aamun” they may attack Player B1 or Player B2 or any Units on either of those player’s field.

When Player A1 ends their turn, the next turn is taken by Player B1. During this turn, Player B1 may only attack once. At the end of Player B1’s turn, the next player’s turn will be Player A2. Player A2 may only attack once during this turn. After Player A2’s turn, it will become Player B2’s turn. During this turn, Player B2 may attack as many times as possible. After this turn, it becomes Player A1’s turn again and all players may now attack as much as possible during their turns.

Strategy Gate: Revenge

[Revenge] is undeniably one of the most power, prominent, and game defining keywords in all of System Gate. Today we will discuss why, how each planet utilizes it, and how to play around it.

Revenge is the primary way to deal damage and/or disrupt your opponent’s formation during their turn. This alone makes it powerful, but Revenge also has a variation in output. If your opponent link attacks with low enough power, you could potential destroy all of the units in the link attack with your [Revenge]. To top it off, a card that grants [Revenge] is easily accessible to all Planets thanks to the Asteroid card “Asteroid Energy.” Due to all of these factors, it’s no wonder that [Revenge] strategies are incredibly common with the majority of players.

Next, let’s cover how each Planet takes advantage of this powerful Keyword. Venus and Alpha Centauri, as usual, are the average. Each coming with a Spell that increases a unit’s stats by +5000/+5000 and giving [Revenge] for the battle. Neptune has a spell that works in the same way, but gives +6000/+6000. As expected, Neptune as the most powerful spell version of this effect. Uranus does things a bit different. They have a spell that allows for the summoning of a Unit during [Counter] timing, that unit is then given [Revenge]. The rest of the planets will have to make due with the aforementioned Asteroid Energy for now.

So, now that we know about [Revenge] and what it can, how do we play around it? In general, it’s a safe bet to assume that your opponent will be using a [Revenge] card in their deck. To this effect, if you are concerned about getting messed up by [Revenge], attack with your weakest unit first. If you do get Revenged, you’ll be losing less value this way. Try and anticipate when your opponent has a [Counter] card and try to bait them into using it! Against Uranus, Link Attacking is key! Uranus’ primary fizzle only works against Link attacks was well as not having a way to increase defense with their Planetary [Revenge] card. So if you link attack against them, odds are it will go your way.
